March is an important month for me as I kick it off with my birthday on the 2nd! Hubby’s birthday is this week on Sunday, so we’ll be celebrating together on the weekend. There’s also some good news for the blog, so keep reading. I’ll try to keep it brief for those like me with attention problems.

First of all, sorry for the hiatus. I’ve actually kept reading, but I had a bad streak and I had to drop two books for different reasons. Also, one of the reads I managed to finish dragged a little, taking me longer than expected. Oh, and I got tendinitis from using my kindle and phone so much, so my reading time is limited too. I digress.

Keymark

In my last update, I talked about doing the Keymark readathon. While I strayed a little from my TBR, I finished the challenge and read 5 books. One of them wasn’t indie, but for the rest, you can find my reviews here:

I’ve made a couple of friends there already thanks to the readathon, and new events are coming. I’m also a mod there now, so if you haven’t joined, come so I can tell you to behave and make me feel important. Or, you know, just for the fun of sharing our love for SFF books. Join Keymark discord server.

Indie Contests

I’m almost done with my Indie Ink Awards assignments (I’m just short one book now), and I decided to enter another contest! I just signed up as a panellist for BBNYA (Book Bloggers’ Novel of the Year Award). It’s starting later in the year, but I’m really excited about it. The Goddess of Nothing at All just won 2nd place in the 2022 contest. I’ve heard of some great contenders entering this year, so I expect to find some new favourites participating in it.

Book Tours

March will be also the month I start participating in book tours. I’m already scheduled for TWO with Escapist Book Tours:

Cover of Unanimity by Alexandra Almeida
Cover for The Sparrow and the Oak Tree by Jamie Jackson

The first one will be for Unanimity by Alexandra Almeida. It will run from March 6 through 8, and I’m scheduled right in the middle on March 7. This book has been on my TBR for a while, and it’s time to pick it up as I already own 3 different editions of it. It’s about rogue AIs and reluctant gods, full of morally gray characters and social commentary.

The second one is a lighter read and just came out on February 14 this year. I heard of The Sparrow and the Oak Tree by Jamie Jackson for the first time from this tour’s announcement. The tour will run from March 9 to March 15, and I’ll be right at the tail end on the 15th. It’s a retelling of Tristan and Isolde. There’s fae, magic, romance and… zombies? Apparently also some morally gray characters. It seems March will be a fun reading month.

Thanks for reading this far and sorry for the lack of reviews this last couple of weeks. I promise to make up for it with some interesting (or at least a bit funny) posts next month.
